IT Environment Manager

The IT Environment Manager will oversee and manage the IT environment within the public sector, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with organisational objectives. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining and improving technology systems to support business needs.

Description

  • Manage and maintain IT environments to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to implement technology solutions aligned with organisational goals.
  • Oversee the deployment, configuration, and monitoring of IT systems and applications.
  • Identify and address potential risks and issues within the IT environment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address IT requirements.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for IT environment processes and configurations.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members on IT environment-related matters.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting or reporting tools that support operational visibility
  • An understanding of automated cloud infrastructure tooling, ideally including Terraform
  • A good understanding of Microsoft license , cost optimization and governance practices
  • Experience across a broad range of Microsoft 365, Azure, web development, integration, CRM/ERP and security technologies, including device management, data analytics platforms, modern web frameworks, enterprise workflow tools, customer engagement platforms and cloud infrastructure services

Profile

A successful IT Environment Manager should have:

  • A strong understanding of IT systems and infrastructure management.
  • Proven experience in managing IT environments within the public sector or similar industries.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Experience of IT environment management including the provisioning of new environment requests and management of existing environments in accordance with business requirements
  • Understanding of environment governance, lifecycle management, and cost control
  • In depth knowledge of Azure and enterprise SaaS platforms sufficient to support environment oversight
  • Ability to work effectively across Operations, Delivery, and Governance teams
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication (verbal and written) skills
