We are currently looking for two Project Support Officers to join our Delivery Function within the Digital & Technology group.

The Digital and Technology Group (D&T) lies at the heart of the Agency and is responsible for delivering an optimised IT infrastructure and maximising the secure use of data to enable our scientists, inspectors, and the rest of the organisation to deliver world class services which can improve outcomes for patients and the general public. The Group was essential in the race to approve COVID-19 vaccines in 2020 and in supporting the UK to set up its own medicines and devices approvals systems following our exit from the EU. The Delivery function is responsible for providing a Delivery Centre of Excellence to drive a digital and technology-based change to deliver minimum viable products (MVP) and continuous improvements and managing all stages of the product development and implementation lifecycle, including, but not limited to, business case creation, benefits realisation planning, and management of risks.
Description
The post holder covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project's objectives and enables the smooth running of the project by supporting the project manager through the operation of project management processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf.
This job description is based on the equivalent role in the Project Delivery Capability Framework (PDCF) which describes the job roles, capabilities and learning for all Project Delivery Professionals across Government.
Key responsibilities:
- Planning and scheduling - Ensure systems are in place to enable effective planning and scheduling.
- Monitoring and reporting - Manage project controls, reporting to the Project Manager about the project status. Develop project performance reports.
- Admin - Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Manage compliance of the project with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning.
- Resources - Lead a team responsible for identifying, developing and deploying resources. Manage workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making to the Project Manager. Procurement of supplies and services related to project support within Delegated Financial Authority limits.
- Stakeholder - Manage and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Draft and sign-off correspondence.
- Financial control - Manage project spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets. Contribute to the project business case.
- Risks and issues - Lead potential risk areas, working with risk manager and escalating as appropriate.

Profile
Our successful candidate will have:
- Experience in all aspects of project support i.e. scheduling, risk & issue management, change control and governance.
- Effective stakeholder engagement experience to identify, analyse and communicate with stakeholders.
- Experience to evaluate and promote best practices and lessons learned to create a culture of learning and good practice.
- Good experience in project and programme delivery.
- Familiarity with the Government Project Delivery Functional Standard, which sets expectations for the direction and management of portfolios, programmes, and projects in government, is desirable.
- Working with Agile
- PRINCE2 Practitioner
- APM Project Management Qualification
- Working knowledge of using MS Office tools in a project environment including Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check as well as animal rights and pro-life activism checks. People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.
Certain roles within the MHRA will require post holders to have vaccinations, and in some circumstances, routine health surveillance. These roles include:
- Laboratory-based roles working directly with known pathogens
- Maintenance roles, particularly those required to work in laboratory settings
- Roles that involve visiting other establishments where vaccination is required
- Roles required to travel overseas where specific vaccination may be required.

This check will provide information about employees who have been dismissed for fraud or dishonesty offences. This check also applies to employees who resign or otherwise leave before being dismissed for fraud or dishonesty had their employment continued.
