Senior Business Analyst

We are currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our Digital & Service Design Function within the Digital & Technology group.

This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 7/8 Wellington Place, Leeds, LS1 4AP.

What's the role?

This is a high-profile role delivering business analysis services for our portfolio, programmes and projects.

You will assist in developing innovative and strategic approaches to solving business issues using technology, that aligns with the Agency's overall strategy. You will support the business and work with IT colleagues to ensure the best and most cost-effective technology solutions are developed and deployed. You are pivotal in understanding and analysing user and business needs. You will ensure outcomes are aligned with service vision and business strategy by contributing to the link between current and future business models and delivering to the business architecture. You will work directly with key stakeholders in the business to understand and document key business opportunities that align with the overall Agency needs and the individual divisional business needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead on the preparation of the business analysis approach and plan for agreed projects and programmes. This could include developing detailed workshop plans and ensuring appropriate time is integrated into the wider delivery plan for consolidating analysis findings into functional requirements.
  • Lead engagement with all relevant stakeholders on the analysis and design for the project or programme. Do this by influencing and managing relationships effectively, ensuring business analysis outputs are captured and agreed by all stakeholders, ensure those in the projects and programmes are positively engaged taking account of their levels of influence and interest.
  • Lead digital and business teams to reach a consensus on an agreed minimum viable product that will reach and attain benefits realisation, ensure the modelling of business processes, data and systems meet these requirements.
  • Ensure the smooth transition of ongoing business analysis activities from the design phase into implementation and delivery of the project. Work effectively with testing partners, training partners, change managers and the business in defining acceptance criteria and business readiness principles.
  • Contribute to the on-going development of the Business Analysis Framework to support the delivery of business analysis services within the organisation, providing direction and guidance to the team and supporting the development of others in the area of business analysis. Apply and champion agreed methodologies, tools and frameworks appropriate for organisational context.

Challenge where appropriate by completing an impact assessment, raising risks and issues early but also have the confidence and ability to influence decision making to deliver against the objectives and goals of the project and programme business case.

    Experience Criteria:

    • Experience of successfully creating, project managing and delivering Business Analysis activities and artefacts within a project/programme or portfolio including but not limited to gathering, documenting business requirements and user stories, evaluating requirements against the present process state and target process states to develop successful requirements for the transition (A, I)
    • Extensive and proven ability to work with discretion and capability in own area. Evidence of working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working across boundaries and delegating where appropriate, adding value through strategic thinking (I)
    • Evidence of the ability to make decisions confidently and demonstrate understanding of the complexity and diversity of customer needs and expectations, making disciplined decisions based on available information (I, P)
    • Experience of using agile methodology in delivery and a track record of applying an agile mindset to all aspects of their work (A, I)

    Technical Criteria:

    • Ideally you will hold a degree or post graduate qualification in a computing or science discipline, or have extensive relatable work experience (A)
    • Ideally you will hold a Business Analysis Qualification or demonstrate experience of undertaking business analysis in a comparable setting (A)
