The Mental Health Social Care Pathway is a vital part of Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust's Community Mental Health Services. We provide person-centred, recovery-focused support to people aged 16 and over across Staffordshire who are experiencing significant mental health challenges, helping them to achieve their goals, maintain independence and improve their wellbeing.
We work closely with a wide range of health, social care, voluntary sector and independent provider organisations, enabling us to offer joined-up, responsive support to the communities we serve.
We currently have two exciting Duty Worker opportunities within our Adult Mental Health Social Care Pathway. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about supporting people with mental health needs, and wants to develop their experience within adult social care and mental health services.
We recognise the importance of work-life balance and offer flexibility regarding your work base. Depending on your location and preferences, you could be based from one of our offices in Stafford, Cannock, Newcastle-under-Lyme or Lichfield, alongside opportunities for hybrid and home working where appropriate.
Main duties of the job
As a Duty Worker, you will become a valued member of a supportive and experienced multi-disciplinary team. You will play a key role as the first point of contact for referrals into the Adult Mental Health Social Care Pathway, helping to ensure people receive the right support at the right time. Your responsibilities will include triaging referrals, responding to enquiries received via phone, email and clinical systems, signposting individuals to appropriate services, and supporting the wider team with a variety of administrative and operational duties.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and committed to providing high-quality customer service. You will have excellent communication skills, a compassionate approach and the ability to work confidently with a range of professionals, service users and carers. A basic understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983 would be advantageous, although support and development opportunities will be available.

Social Work Learning Academy (SWLA)
On appointment, the post holder will be auto-enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA stage (i.e. stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker) or 3 (Advanced Social Worker) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration. The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own Continuous Professional Development.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
- Possesses a recognised basic IT qualification (ECDL or equivalent) or can display IT skills to an equivalent level of competence
- Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or equivalent and willing to undertake additional qualifications in Health and Social Care
- A clear understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
- NVQ 3 or Level 3 Diploma in a related subject, e.g. Customer Care or Business Administration
Experience
- Previous customer care experience. Able to work within a Team environment and contribute effectively to Team / Service development.
- Lived experience either as a person who has used services or as a carer Previous experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience of setting up office/ administrative systems.
- Previous NHS Experience preferably working within a health and social care environment with a focus on mental health
