Enthusiastic IT/Systems Support Engineer/Analyst with broad & proven support skills (Windows OS, software & network) sought by an established & successful Stroud based IT company.
The IT Support Engineer provides support to both external clients as well as the internal team and offers lots of autonomy and opportunity to further improve both the systems & support processes.
You will have previous experience in a similar, broad role eg IT/Technical Support, Helpdesk or Application Support role, dealing with both software and infrastructure issues.
You will have proven diagnostic & problem-solving skills, a methodical approach and a tenacious attitude as well as strong, customer focused, communication skills to ensure efficient trouble-shooting & timely solution delivery.
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of most of the following is essential:-
- Windows Operating Systems (installation, configuration, start-up processes, crash dump analysis, performance issues).
- Networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, LAN/WAN) including diagnosing network connectivity issues, Firewall rule analysis and use of tools & commands such as ping, tracert, nslookup, ipconfig, netstat, arp, Telnet.
- Managing and troubleshooting software licensing systems (eg, FlexLM, RLM, or similar).
- Use of remote desktop and support tools (eg, TeamViewer, RDP, GoToAssist).
- Set up & managing virtual machines, specifically using Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Basic hardware troubleshooting (desktops, laptops, peripherals).
Any exposure to the following is advantageous: Scripting (eg, PowerShell, Batch) &/or software build processes or CI/CD environments.

Salary £35-45k (depending on experience) plus benefits including pension, holiday etc. You will work Monday to Friday office hours.
Based from modern, spacious offices in central Stroud, within easy reach of the rail & bus stations plus A419, A46, M5 etc for a commute from Cirencester, Gloucester, Cheltenham or Stonehouse.
Remote/home working is on offer however, you will need to be based within a 30 minute commute of the office in case of callouts (during daytime hours).
