Senior IT Project Engineer

Are you a hands-on IT professional with a passion for delivering complex technical projects? Do you enjoy variety in your work, solving real-world problems, and making an impact from day one? If so, this opportunity could be exactly what you’re looking for.

A forward-thinking technology company based in Harlow is seeking a Senior IT Project Engineer to join its growing technical delivery team. With a strong reputation for reliability and innovation, the company works with a wide mix of business clients.

This is a role for someone who thrives on technical challenge, autonomy, and ownership—someone who can turn client needs into successful, well-executed outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take charge of delivering a wide range of IT infrastructure projects, often juggling multiple workstreams across different environments. That might mean setting up a secure office network one week, migrating systems to the cloud the next, or upgrading servers and improving connectivity for a multi-site organisation.

You’ll be involved in:

  • Planning and implementing IT infrastructure changes and upgrades
  • Deploying new environments including cloud platforms, virtual servers, and business applications
  • Installing and configuring networking hardware and software
  • Acting as a technical lead on relocation or expansion projects
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to junior team members
  • Ensuring that work is well documented and completed on time

What You’ll Need to Succeed

This isn’t an entry-level role—it's for someone with a solid foundation in IT project delivery and infrastructure, who enjoys being out in the field as much as they enjoy solving problems at a desk.

You should bring:

  • Experience in delivering infrastructure, network, and cloud projects
  • Knowledge of modern desktop and server operating systems (Windows, Mac, Server 2016+)
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Familiarity with virtualisation platforms (Hyper-V, VMware)
  • Experience with email and data migrations (particularly to cloud platforms)
  • Confidence in networking fundamentals, including VLANs, firewalls, and Wi-Fi solutions
  • Understanding of backup and disaster recovery tools
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A methodical, detail-oriented approach and good time management

Bonus Skills (Not Essential, But Great to Have):

  • Exposure to Linux or mixed OS environments
  • Experience with hosted telephony or VoIP systems
  • Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, RMM tools, etc.)
  • Awareness of AI tools or emerging tech in IT service delivery

What You’ll Get in Return

  • Competitive salary, based on your experience
  • Opportunities to gain certifications and develop new skills
  • Supportive team with a strong emphasis on collaboration
  • Office-based role with variety—no two weeks are the same
  • Hybrid working available after probation
  • Convenient location with on-site parking

If you're someone who enjoys delivering real change through smart technology, this could be the role to take your career to the next level. Please apply today.
