Head of eFX Engineering - Director

Profile Summary

The IT department provides a full range of state of the art technology services and associated infrastructure across Mizuho entities in London, Frankfurt, Madrid, Paris and Dubai, as well as participating in global initiatives across the US, Asia and Japan. IT teams service client-facing business units, Operations, Finance and Risk departments using leading delivery methodologies & techniques, including Agile, Containerisation & Continuous integration, across a wide spectrum of underlying technologies. Teams provide a full range of application and infrastructure delivery services including project management, analysis, development, testing, implementation, systems integration, service management and support.

Duties And Responsibilities

To work closely with the Traders and Sales to build a low latency, high performance eFX electronic trading system including Real-time Pricing, Risk, Price Distribution, Algo execution and various electronic trading workflows.

• Excellent programming and technology skills, including an in-depth understanding of or strong knowledge in C++, Rust or Java.
• Ability to take ownership of technical products and projects focussing on increasing automation.
• A desire to take a hands-on approach, embracing the opportunity to be creative when solving problems and developing products.
• Strong entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to work independently and demonstrate project ownership.
• Development and support of Front Office Systems.
• Contribute to the recommendation and assessment of new technologies to add value to the Front Office Development team.
• Functional Requirements: To gather, understand, and analyse functional requirements directly from the Front Office FX desk.
• Deliver to agreed requirements, using an agile delivery process and adhering to ISD standards for Documentation, System Testing, User Acceptance testing, and Change Control. Keep close communication with technical architects within ISD leveraging reusable software to facilitate time-to-market wherever possible.
• Production Support: Provide support for any implemented solutions including incident, problem, and defect management, and appropriately cross train other members within ISD so that they can support the solutions. This may require working shifts and/or being on-call out of normal working hours.
• Any additional responsibilities agreed with your line manager.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Demonstrable experience working in financial services/investment bank.
• A strong culture of collaboration
• Designing, implementing and delivering complex globally distributed high availability real-time trading systems.
• Experience dedicated to FX front office technology (pricing, risk, liquidity aggregation, high frequency trading, ecommerce, etc.) including API development and connectivity to components and Vendor platforms.
• Development through all the stages of the project lifecycle
• Working with users, senior management and stake holders across multiple disciplines
• Mentoring and developing technical colleagues
• Code management knowledge (e.g. version control, code branching & merging, continuous integration & delivery, build & deployment strategies, testing lifecycle)
• Solid knowledge of Investment Banking services and business processes
• Market connectivity venues (e.g. FxAll, Bloomberg, 360T)
• Specialist eFX desk trading process and behavioral knowledge

Technical Knowledge/skills

• Strong experience in any of the following OO languages e.g. C++, Java, .Net Development
• 7+ years of C/C++ development experience
• Experience with FX financial markets/clients
• Experience with order entry gateway development.
• Experience with market data
• Some Scripting knowledge
• Interest and knowledge of principles of developing for low latency. Developing, maintaining, and deploying high-performance, low-latency applications
• Strong experience in multi-threading
• Worked with Repositories
• No-Sql/Sql Database interaction.
• Unit Testing / TDD / QA Automated testing and process
• Great organisational and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills
