Head of Digital Enablement

Permanent

“To power intelligent, efficient automation and business decision making across the enterprise through trusted, governed data.”

The Head of Digital Enablement plays a pivotal leadership role in driving MBNL’s evolution into a digitally enabled, data-driven shared mobile tower infrastructure organisation. As a member of the Extended Leadership Team, you will lead the organisation’s digital enablement agenda—ensuring that data, analytics, automation, and AI are embedded into everyday operations and delivering measurable value.

This role sits at the centre of MBNL’s transformation. You’ll translate enterprise digital and data strategy into practical capabilities that improve performance, efficiency, resilience, automation and decision-making across the organisation. Working closely with senior leaders and operational teams, you will help move MBNL from a fragmented data environment to a mature, governed, insight-driven capability aligned to business outcomes.

Why this role matters

Digital capability is now fundamental to how infrastructure businesses perform. This role ensures MBNL can harness its data to drive operational insight, enable automation, and support better strategic decisions for both the business and its shareholders.

You will be responsible for ensuring digital investments are not just delivered—but adopted, embedded, and generating measurable value.

This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days per week in our Central Reading office.

What you’ll be here to do:

You’ll lead the strategic and operational delivery of MBNL’s digital enablement capability—ensuring technology, data, and insight actively support business performance. You’ll:

Digital Strategy & Roadmap

  • Lead the creation, approval, and execution of MBNL’s Digital Enablement roadmap, translating enterprise digital and data strategy into deliverable programmes.
  • Ensure solutions are aligned to MBNL’s size, scale, operational needs, and investment priorities.
  • Provide expert digital insight into enterprise planning, investment cases, and transformation programmes.

Data & Analytics Leadership

  • Own enterprise-wide Business Intelligence and Management Information delivery, including dashboards, analytics, and self-service reporting.
  • Ensure insight is accurate, timely, and decision-relevant across all major MBNL data domains including OSS, corporate systems, BSS, and ERP platforms.
  • Lead the development of advanced analytics capabilities that support operational control, forecasting, and risk management.

Data Governance & Maturity

  • Establish robust data governance frameworks, quality standards, and controls across the organisation.
  • Lead MBNL’s data management maturity journey, including ownership of frameworks such as DAMA/DCAM (or equivalent).
  • Build a coordinated enterprise data operating model connecting federated data teams, Data Stewards, and delivery partners.

Automation & AI Enablement

  • Define and deliver MBNL’s AI strategy, ensuring responsible adoption within appropriate governance frameworks.
  • Drive enterprise automation initiatives including RPA, intelligent automation, and process optimisation.
  • Identify and prioritise opportunities that deliver clear efficiency, cost, and resilience benefits.

Adoption, Value & Business Impact

  • Own the adoption and value realisation of digital capabilities across the organisation.
  • Ensure data, automation, and AI solutions move beyond delivery into embedded operational capability.
  • Track measurable benefits including efficiency improvements, operational insight, and financial performance.

Governance, Delivery & Partnerships

  • Manage delivery partners and suppliers within the Digital Enablement portfolio, ensuring quality, accountability, and value for money.
  • Ensure all digital solutions align with cyber security requirements, telecom regulatory obligations, and internal assurance frameworks.
  • Establish clear governance and reporting for digital initiatives across MBNL.

Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead and develop the Digital Enablement team, creating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a change leader—driving adoption of new digital tools, data practices, and analytical thinking across the business.
  • Coach and develop team members in line with the MBNL Way, building strong digital and data capability.

Key challenges you’ll tackle:

  • Moving MBNL from fragmented data practices to a coordinated enterprise capability.
  • Driving adoption of digital tools and analytics across operational and leadership teams.
  • Delivering measurable value from automation and AI initiatives.
  • Balancing innovation with the governance and reliability required in critical infrastructure environments.
  • Aligning multiple stakeholders and suppliers around a shared digital roadmap.
  • Enabling a data-driven culture while maintaining robust security, compliance, and operational integrity.

Who we’re looking for:

You’re a strategic digital and data leader with the credibility, technical understanding, and influence to operate at senior leadership level. You combine strong technical knowledge with business pragmatism, ensuring digital initiatives translate into real operational value. You’ll have:

  • Strong expertise in DAMA/DCAM frameworks or equivalent data management methodologies.
  • Proven leadership experience in digital enablement, data, analytics, BI/MI, and automation.
  • Experience delivering digital transformation within telecommunications, infrastructure, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Hands-on experience delivering analytics, insight, or automation initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, information management, and regulatory controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence adoption and change at senior levels.
  • Experience leading teams and developing high-performing digital capabilities.

If you also have the following, we’re especially interested in talking to you:

  • Experience operating within joint venture or complex partnership environments.
  • Exposure to shared infrastructure, telecom regulatory frameworks, or critical national infrastructure organisations.
