Data Engineer – Leading Global Hedge Fund – Excellent Compensation + Benefits

My client, a leading US-based discretionary hedge fund, is seeking a strong Data Engineer to join their London team.

This role sits within a front-office technology environment, focused on building and maintaining high-quality data infrastructure that supports trading, research, and portfolio analytics across a multi-asset platform.

You will play a key role in developing scalable data pipelines and ensuring reliable access to clean, well-structured data used by portfolio managers, analysts, and technologists. The position offers strong ownership across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion through to delivery in production systems.

Working within a collaborative and high-impact team, you will partner closely with both technical and business stakeholders to improve data quality, accessibility, and overall platform robustness.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines to transform raw datasets into usable formats for analytics and trading
  • Work closely with stakeholders to onboard and integrate external and internal data sources
  • Develop and maintain data validation and quality controls to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Support production data workflows, troubleshooting issues and ensuring reliable data availability
  • Contribute to improving data architecture, standards, and documentation across the platform
  • Collaborate with engineering and front-office teams to enhance data accessibility and usability
  • Participate in maintaining system stability and availability, including occasional out-of-hours support where required

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building data pipelines in a financial or trading environment
  • Strong programming skills in Python (including pandas or similar libraries)
  • Solid experience working with SQL and relational databases
  • Familiarity with modern data tools and frameworks (e.g. cloud storage, workflow orchestration, messaging systems)
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

My client offers a highly competitive total compensation package, alongside strong benefits and the opportunity to work in a high-performance, front-office environment with direct impact on trading and investment processes.
