Post-Trade Software Engineer (Multiple Roles) - Buy-Side Technology | London
We are working with a high-performing buy-side technology team that is hiring four Software Engineers to help build and evolve their Post-Trade Engineering function. This is an opportunity to work in a modern, low-bureaucracy environment where engineering is central to the firm's success and where technology directly enables trading, risk, operations and portfolio management.
You will join a small, highly capable team responsible for the full lifecycle of post-trade systems: trade capture, enrichment, lifecycle events, reconciliations, settlement workflows, data pipelines, and regulatory/operational reporting. The team operates with significant autonomy, close collaboration with business stakeholders, and ownership from design through to production.
The Role
You will:
- Design, build and enhance post-trade services covering trade capture, validation, enrichment, lifecycle processing and settlement flows.
- Develop reconciliation tools and exception-handling systems for multi-asset trading activity.
- Build robust data pipelines and operational datasets for risk, P&L, compliance and audit requirements.
- Integrate with brokers, custodians, clearing venues and internal trading/risk systems.
- Work directly with operations, risk, finance, compliance and portfolio managers to understand workflows and translate them into clean, scalable engineering solutions.
- Contribute to architecture, technical design, testing, automation, observability and ongoing platform modernisation.
- Ensure resilience, reliability and data quality across high-impact operational systems.
What We're Looking For
- Strong software engineering skills in Python or C# (Python/Scala useful for data-heavy components).
- Solid understanding of data modelling, relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and building performant queries/schemas.
- Experience with post-trade, middle-office, or trade-lifecycle engineering — e.g. reconciliations, settlements, allocations, confirmation workflows, corporate actions, or similar.
- Experience with event-driven systems, messaging, or streaming platforms (Kafka, MQ, etc).
- Strong understanding of financial markets and trade lifecycle across one or more asset classes.
- Ability to engage with non-technical stakeholders and translate business logic into maintainable systems.
- Pragmatic, detail-driven engineering mindset: building reliable, well-tested, production-grade systems.
Why This Opportunity?
- Small, high-quality engineering team with direct ownership and minimal red tape.
- Broad remit across all facets of post-trade processing and operational data flows.
- High visibility with senior technologists and business stakeholders.
- Opportunity to shape the future architecture of a critical function in a fast-growing, technology-first environment.
- Genuine engineering culture – clean code, modern tooling, autonomy and accountability.
Location: London
Work Model: (4 days onsite)
Compensation: Highly competitive, aligned to top-tier buy-side standards.
If you are a strong engineer with exposure to post-trade or middle-office systems and want to contribute to a modern, mission-critical platform, please reach out for a confidential discussion.
