Senior DevOps Engineer - Leading Systematic Hedge Fund - London
My client, a highly prestigious hedge fund, is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join their Platform Engineering team in London.
Embedded within a high-performing technology function, you will play a key role in designing, building and automating low-level infrastructure and platform systems that underpin a complex, business-critical environment.
This role is heavily focused on bare metal infrastructure, Kubernetes, and Terraform, and will suit an engineer who is comfortable operating close to the hardware while building scalable, production-grade platforms.
You will take ownership of Kubernetes cluster design and management, drive infrastructure as code using Terraform, and work across bare metal environments to deliver highly performant and reliable systems. Working closely with software engineering and infrastructure teams, you will help standardise deployments, improve system resilience, and reduce operational overhead through automation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and managing Kubernetes platforms in production environments
- Building and maintaining Terraform-based infrastructure at scale
- Working directly with bare metal servers, optimising performance and reliability
- Driving automation across provisioning, deployment and system management
- Enhancing observability, scalability and system robustness
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production
- Deep expertise in Terraform (or equivalent IaC tools)
- Experience working with bare metal infrastructure (non-cloud / hybrid environments)
- Solid scripting or development skills (Python, PowerShell, C# or Java)
- Familiarity with Linux systems and platform-level engineering
Experience with cloud (AWS/Azure), CI/CD tooling, and monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) is beneficial but secondary to core platform expertise.
