Senior Platform Engineer (Linux / IaC / Containers) - High-Impact Hands-On Role
Job Description
Increase your chances of an interview by reading the following overview of this role before making an application.
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Platform Engineer to join a highly technical, engineering-driven team building and running the core infrastructure that powers a complex, mission-critical trading environment. This is a rare opportunity to own infrastructure end-to-end, work with a modern cloud-native stack, and shape a platform that is being engineered with quality, automation, and reliability at its core.
If you come from a small, high-trust environment where you’ve worn multiple hats, built systems from first principles, and understand how platforms fit together at a deep systems level—this will be one of the most rewarding roles you can take on.
You will be a key member of a senior-only platform team responsible for designing, automating, and operating the full infrastructure stack. You will work across Linux systems, container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, secrets management, cluster networking/storage interfaces, and cloud integration.
This is not a siloed role. You will work in an environment where sharp engineers truly own their systems—designing, provisioning, securing, deploying, maintaining, and scaling them.
What You’ll Work On
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
- Designing and building infrastructure using Terraform, Helm, Ansible, and Puppet
- Implementing fully automated, GitOps-style provisioning and lifecycle management
- Codifying repeatable patterns for platform reliability, security, and scaling
Containerisation & Orchestration
- Operating and improving large-scale containerised workloads
- Working with Nomad (preferred) or Kubernetes (fully transferable)
- Understanding and implementing CNI and CSI patterns for networking and storage
Core Systems Engineering
- Deep Linux engineering (performance, networking, debugging, observability)
- Building secure, robust, self-service platform capabilities for engineering teams
- Owning infrastructure from bootstrap → deploy → operate → harden
Cloud & Platform Services
- Leveraging Azure cloud primitives
- Implementing secrets, identity, and policy through HashiCorp Vault
End-to-End Ownership
- Working autonomously to solve difficult problems across the full platform layer
- Designing, standing up, and running services in a Linux-native environment
- Working closely with senior technologists across the business
What We’re Looking For
True Seniority. A platform engineer with breadth as well as depth—not someone who has spent their career in a silo.
Linux-first mindset. You live and breathe Linux systems and understand how distributed workloads behave underneath.
Modern container & IaC expertise. Strong experience with Nomad/K8s, Terraform, Helm, Ansible/Puppet, Vault, and cloud-native tooling.
Breadth of exposure from a smaller environment. Ideally someone from:
- A small, high-impact engineering team
- A startup with real ownership
- A consultancy/vendor environment with wide hands-on exposure
You understand how all the pieces fit together, not just one narrow slice.
Stability and craft. A track record of delivering quality over time—not a job hopper. xkybehq
What We Offer
- A senior, engineering-led culture with extremely high technical standards
- The autonomy to design and operate infrastructure the right way
- A role where your impact is visible, meaningful, and valued
- A modern platform built on cloud-native principles, not legacy firefighting
- Competitive compensation for top-tier talent
- An environment that rewards curiosity, ownership, and technical excellence
Who This Role Is Perfect For
An engineer who:
- Wants to own infrastructure rather than sit in a large silo
- Enjoys solving deep technical problems across the full stack
- Likes working alongside other high-calibre senior engineers
- Thrives in an environment with accountability, modern tooling, and genuine complexity
- Wants to see the impact of their work immediately
If you want to work in an environment where platform engineering is treated as a first-class discipline—and where the bar is set high—send your profile or reach out for an initial conversation.
