Job BriefWe're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team and play a key role in shaping how data moves through Moneybox.
Working closely with our Data Engineering lead, you'll act as a senior technical partner and take significant ownership of our data platform, architecture and engineering standards. This is a hands-on role, but one with broad influence across Engineering and Insight.
You'll need to be comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy, making pragmatic technical decisions and taking ownership from problem definition through to production.
What You'll DoAct as a senior technical partner within Data Engineering, providing continuity and ownership across the platformHelp set the technical direction and priorities for Data EngineeringOwn, maintain and improve our core data processing and analytical platforms, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability and resilienceDesign, build and maintain robust data pipelines and integrations across Moneybox systemsLead the design of significant data architecture and integration changesBuild integrations to ingest new data sources and make them available across our analytical platformsPartner with Backend Engineering and Insight teams to maintain reliable, accurate and meaningful data models as our products evolveEstablish and promote good engineering practices across data pipelines, modelling, observability, performance and reliabilityEnsure data quality and integrity throughout our pipelines, identifying and addressing issues before they impact downstream usersProvide technical guidance to engineers and analysts working with the data platformWork with Engineering, Information Security and Compliance to ensure analytical data is secure, appropriately restricted and handled in line with our policiesMonitor and improve the performance, efficiency and cost of our data processing platformsTake ownership of complex technical problems and drive them through to resolutionKeep up to date with developments in data engineering and identify where new technologies or approaches could deliver meaningful valueContribute to the wider engineering community at Moneybox, sharing expertise and helping raise standards across our technology estateOur Data Technology StackCloud: Microsoft AzureData platforms: Azure Databricks, SQL Server, Cosmos DB and Blob StorageData processing: Python, Spark and SQLMessaging: Azure Service Bus and Event HubsDevOps and infrastructure: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions and TerraformYou don't need to have worked with every technology we use, but we expect you to have strong experience with comparable technologies and the ability to learn quickly.
