THE ROLE

We are looking for a Data Migration Lead to own and deliver the end-to-end data migration capability across our client implementations.

This is a senior, high-impact role responsible for leading the data migration workstream across complex banking transformation programmes. You will define and embed a repeatable, scalable migration approach, ensuring migrations are well-governed, predictable and aligned to programme objectives.

You will act as the primary point of accountability for all data migration activities, working closely with clients, engineering teams and delivery stakeholders to ensure data is accurately migrated, validated and production-ready.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Lead the end-to-end data migration workstream, ensuring alignment with programme scope, timelines and delivery objectives.
  • Define and implement a structured migration framework, including mapping catalogues, data quality thresholds, governance and runbooks.
  • Oversee all phases of the migration lifecycle, including discovery, design, mapping, rehearsal, cutover and post-go-live support.
  • Establish clear data readiness criteria, ensuring migrations are validated, reconciled and approved ahead of cutover.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for data migration, managing risks, issues and trade-offs across client and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive data mapping, transformation and validation activities, ensuring consistency and accuracy across systems.
  • Lead cutover planning and execution, including rehearsal cycles, validation processes and rollback strategies.
  • Embed strong governance practices, including RAID management, reporting and auditability across all migration activities.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, acting as a credible advisor on migration strategy, constraints and delivery approach.
  • Develop reusable migration capabilities and standardised practices to support multiple client programmes over time.

WE LOOK FOR PEOPLE WITH

  • Proven experience leading end-to-end data migration programmes within banking or building society environments.
  • At least five years’ experience operating in a senior or lead capacity across migration and cutover workstreams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with data mapping, transformation, validation and migration processes.
  • Deep understanding of large-scale transformation programmes and the challenges associated with data migration delivery.
  • Experience working in regulated financial services environments, with awareness of risk, governance and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to define and implement structured migration frameworks, artefacts and governance models.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, collaborating with Product Owners and engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and tooling.

You demonstrate strong analytical rigour, attention to detail and a structured approach to problem solving. You are confident managing complex stakeholder environments, challenging constructively and making clear, pragmatic decisions under pressure. You focus on outcomes, build trust quickly and bring a disciplined, delivery-focused mindset to complex programmes.
