UX/Product Designer

Moorepay is transforming. As a trusted leader in UK Payroll and HR software, we're rebuilding our platform from first principles to create a modern product that makes complex compliance processes simple and intuitive for SMEs.

We're looking for an experienced UX / Product Designer to join our growing UX team, delivering embedded design support across two product pods. This is a hands-on role where you'll own complex features from discovery through to delivery, helping shape products used by thousands of UK businesses.

This is a full-time, permanent role, working hybrid with 3 days per week in our Manchester office.

Why Join Us?

This isn't a role where you'll simply apply existing patterns in an established product.

  • Build deep domain expertise within either Payroll or HR rather than being constantly rotated between products.
  • Join a growing UX chapter with design critiques, shared standards, and support from a Senior Product Designer and Head of UX.
  • Work on products that matter, helping businesses manage critical payroll and HR compliance activities.
  • Grow your career as part of a newly established design function with future leadership opportunities.
  • Enjoy startup-style product challenges backed by the stability, scale, and investment of the Zellis Group.
How We Work

You'll work one sprint ahead of engineering, partnering closely with Product Owners and Tech Leads to:

  • Design end-to-end feature experiences for complex workflows.
  • Translate research and business requirements into intuitive user journeys.
  • Create designs covering all states, including error, empty and loading scenarios.
  • Write clear, user-focused microcopy.
  • Produce engineering-ready specifications and handovers.
  • Design with accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and usability at the forefront.
  • Contribute to and help evolve our design system.
  • Use analytics, support insights and user feedback to inform design decisions.
AI & Tooling

We embrace AI-enabled ways of working and use tools that help us move faster and deliver better outcomes.

Our current stack includes:

  • Figma (including Variables and Dev Mode)
  • Figma Make and Claude Design
  • Cursor and Claude Code
  • Microsoft Clarity
  • AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini

Experience with equivalent platforms such as Lovable, Bolt, Maze, UserTesting, Hotjar, FullStory, Galileo AI or similar tools is equally valuable. We're interested in your mindset, curiosity and approach to problem-solving rather than experience with specific products.

What We're Looking For
  • Proven UX or Product Design experience within B2B SaaS or similarly complex software environments.
  • Experience shipping production-ready features as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interaction design skills with attention to detail across all feature states.
  • Experience working within established design systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable managing priorities across multiple workstreams.
  • Confident collaborating with Product and Engineering partners.
  • A user-centred, evidence-led approach to design decisions.

Previous Payroll or HR experience isn't required. We value designers who enjoy tackling complex domains and solving meaningful user problems.

Desirable Experience

Experience designing:

  • Workflow-heavy SaaS products.
  • Conversational interfaces.
  • Progressive disclosure patterns.
  • Human-in-the-loop automation experiences.
