System Support Assistant (GIS) - MOR12003

Job Description

To assist the Systems Manager in the development, management, promotion and support of the Council wide Geographic Information System (GIS). Provide support to the delivery and maintenance of the Corporate Address Gazetteer (CAG).

Responsibilities

To manage, maintain, develop and disseminate Geographic Information across the Council from the Geographical Information System (GIS) system.

To manage, maintain, develop and disseminate Ordnance Survey (OS) and other base mapping.

Participation in training and development activities, as trainer and trainee, as required.

Provide support to the delivery and maintenance of the Corporate Address Gazetteer (CAG).

Provide cover for the other System Support officers within Growth, Planning, and Climate.

Liaise with the Council’s ICT Section on all ICT related items within Growth, Planning, and Climate.

Contributing to the effectiveness of the service.

The Individual

Ability to develop, maintain and review procedures

Previous experience in working with mapping and addressing

Ability to be able to read and understand property or site plans

HNC in a relevant subject

High level of accuracy in work

Good organisational skills

Ability to work within a team

Ability to work on own initiative

IT skills

Ability to absorb and process technical information

Ability to develop, maintain and review Procedures and Processes

Knowledge and experience of GIS software packages, including ArcGIS PRO and QGIS

Knowledge of the core principles of GIS and data management.

Knowledge and experience of various software packages, including Word, Excel, Access and Power BI

Excellent analytical skills

Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently

Ability to develop, review and monitor work systems and data management

Previous experience in designing Microsoft Access\Power BI queries and reports

Ability to relate well with all levels of staff

Excellent communication skills both oral and written

Willingness to work in a demanding position where a flexible and corporate approach is required

Willingness to accept direction/delegation

Ability to work in an open plan office

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service

Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements

Starting Salary: £36,003.50

£19.10 per hour

36.25 hours per week
