Head of Technology Operations (London)
Morgan Law is currently supporting a charity in Central London that is seeking a Head of Technology Operations for a 6-month fixed-term contract .
The Interim Head of Technology Operations will serve as the lead technology expert for the organization, ensuring the smooth operation of core central technology functions. This role involves managing an IT outsourcer and other suppliers, overseeing the provision of devices, telephony, and local equipment. The candidate will also be responsible for cybersecurity and ensuring that applications used by other teams are secure and fit for purpose. Additionally, they will manage a small internal IT team.
Requirements
- Deliver high-quality IT support by effectively managing the IT outsourcing contract and internal procedures.
- Manage relationships with IT suppliers, including telephony services, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and efficiently, sometimes requiring hands-on problem solving.
- Provide technical guidance to teams managing their own applications and systems (finance, fundraising, HR, NDAH, Data).
- Act as a trusted advisor and business partner for SMT and colleagues, offering expertise, identifying opportunities, and delivering solutions for modernization, automation, and cost optimization.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for all projects involving technology.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date technology policies.
- Manage the technology budget effectively.
Experience
- Proven experience managing and developing a technology infrastructure within a similar organization.
- Extensive experience in technology procurement and supplier management.
- Strong understanding of relevant technologies, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, Entra, Defender, telephony, and networking.
- Excellent knowledge of IT service management processes.
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles.
- Experience managing and controlling an IT budget.
- Relevant degree and/or industry certifications such as ITIL, Microsoft certifications, or cybersecurity certifications are likely.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Skilled in negotiating and managing contracts, assessing, and managing risks in supplier relationships.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior staff.
