Interim Technology Services Manager
I am currently working with a Charity who are seeking an Interim Head of Technology Services who will manage the support function within the organisation and help with service improvement projects.
You will ensure the core central technology operations run smoothly. This role manages an IT Outsourcer and other suppliers as well as ensuring the provision of devices, telephony and local equipment is robust. You are responsible for our cybersecurity and ensuring that applications run by other teams are safe and fit for purpose.
The role is for 12 months on a fixed term contract paying £65-70k. It is hybrid, based 2-3 days in Central London.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver a high-quality IT support function through effective contract management of the IT Outsourcing company and ensuring relevant internal procedures are in place.
- Manage other IT supplier relationships including for telephony services, ensuring they deliver to contracted obligations and provide good value for money.
- Where necessary, work with the outsourcer and others to ensure that problems are resolved quickly and in the best way for colleagues. At times, this means that you will need to roll up your sleeves and be hands on in problem solving.
- Provide advice and technical guidance to teams who manage their own applications and systems (finance, fundraising, HR, NDAH, Data).
- Be a trusted advisor and business partner for SMT and other colleagues, providing expertise, identifying opportunities and delivering solutions for modernisation, automation, and cost optimisation across the organisation.
- Approve the purchase of any new software or online services ensuring that they meet the needs of the colleagues who will use them and are secure, appropriately supported, adhere to our technology standards, and are cost-effective
Experience needed:
- Strong experience managing and developing a technology infrastructure for a similar organisation
- Extensive experience of technology procurement and supplier management
- Good understanding of technologies relevant, particularly Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, Entra and Defender, telephony and networking.
- Excellent understanding of IT service management processes
- Excellent knowledge of cyber security
- Experience of successfully managing and controlling an information technology budget
- It is likely that the successful candidate will hold a relevant degree and / or relevant industry qualifications such as ITIL, Microsoft certifications and a cybersecurity certification
- Managing multiple concurrent projects and prioritise effectively
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and assess and manage risks in supplier relationships
- Understanding of GDPR and other data protection regulations
- Mentor and develop junior staff
