Manchester (Hybrid - 2 days onsite) | ASAP start | £330-430pd Inside IR35

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly collaborative, data-driven environment, working at the heart of governance, quality and compliance across a large-scale migration to a centralised data platform. This is an initial 6 month contract, with strong ownership from day one and a structured handover planned.

As a Data Manager, you'll play a key role in defining, improving and governing data quality across the business unit. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering and Data teams to ensure data is accurate, compliant and fit for purpose. This is a hands-on role with a strong mix of technical data work, stakeholder engagement and governance oversight.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Define and implement data quality standards, frameworks and controls
  • Monitor and proactively identify data quality issues, driving root cause analysis and resolution
  • Support data lifecycle management and data retention
  • Work on data migration initiatives into a centralised platform
  • Improve data workflows, lineage and governance processes
  • Partner with Product Managers, Data Engineers and Analysts to ensure high-quality, trusted data
  • Drive automation of data quality checks and reporting

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in Data Management, Data Governance or Data Quality
  • Strong understanding of data quality frameworks and governance principles
  • Experience working with data lifecycles, retention and compliance
  • Ability to work closely with technical teams, comfortable discussing data models, ETL and workflows
  • Strong stakeholder management, confident, proactive and able to own conversations
  • Analytical mindset with experience investigating and resolving data issues

Tech & Tools:

  • SQL and/or Python for data analysis
  • Data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Exposure to modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake)
  • Interest in using AI tools (e.g. Gemini, Claude) to improve productivity and data quality processes
  • Knowledge of governance tools is a plus

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in Insurance or Financial Services environments
  • Exposure to data quality tools or governance implementations
  • Experience working on data migrations or centralisation programmes
