Infrastructure Engineer

Position Summary

An established global corporate and investment bank in Central London is seeking a hands-on, coachable Infrastructure Support Engineer.

In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Infrastructure Lead to maintain, support, and optimize core financial platform systems - focusing on enterprise Linux/Unix operating systems, Oracle database hosting environments, and WebLogic middleware application stacks.

This role offers direct mentorship to elevate your technical capabilities within a high-availability banking setting while taking ownership of day-to-day platform support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems Administration: Support and maintain RedHat Linux and Unix (AIX) enterprise operating systems to ensure stability, uptime, and performance.
  • Middleware & Application Support: Assist in administering, configuring, and patching Oracle WebLogic application servers supporting core banking environments.
  • Automation & Scripting: Write, refine, and execute BASH/KSH Shell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks and deployment workflows.
  • Database & Core Platform Operations: Support basic Oracle database hosting operations, user management, and log/ticket troubleshooting within an ITIL framework.
  • Platform Mentorship & Onboarding: Learn and support core banking software operations (e.g., Oracle FLEXCUBE) with full guidance provided by senior team leads.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Support, or Platform Engineering.
  • Operating Systems: Demonstrated command-line experience with enterprise Linux (RedHat) and Unix (AIX).
  • Scripting: Solid hands-on proficiency in Shell Scripting (BASH/KSH).
  • Tech Stack Flexibility (Either Combination Works):
    • Strong Linux + Unix (AIX) background, even without prior WebLogic experience (willing to learn); OR
    • Solid Linux + Oracle (WebLogic) administration background.
