A global banking organisation is seeking a Director of Engineering to join their Corporate Banking division to drive the design, development and delivery of a greenfield inhouse built Virtual Account Management Platform.

This role will oversee a globally distributed function of approx. 150 resources, with the major focus being split across the greenfield build, the maintenance and ultimately decommission of their existing legacy 3rd party Oracle Virtual Account Management Solution and managing/enforcing the relationship with Oracle.

You will have full autonomy over the engineering function and are encouraged to implement your own target operating model, identifying and fixing gaps in the current structure to form a fully effective delivery outfit. Major delivery considerations will be lead time, software quality, speed to market and forward planning about topics such as AI adoption.

You must come from a hands-on software engineering background and whilst at this level, they are agnostic, the development teams are primarily coding with Java, Python and JavaScript for web-based services hosted on a hybrid public/private cloud setup. You will also demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the full engineering stack, covering physical, compute, networks/infrastructure (including security), through to application build and deployment.

This role would suit someone who blends Principal Engineer technical expertise with global management and delivery capabilities, able to still work in the ‘weeds’ whilst also seeing the big picture.
