Payments Architect

Payment Architect – Solutions, Integration, Cards, Digital, Microservices, Vendor management, End-to-End, Data – Financial Service, Hybrid, Up to £625p.d (Outside IR35)

My client, a leading Financial Service Organisation, are looking for a Payments Architect to join them on a contract Basis.

You will play a key role in shaping and delivering the end-to-end UK payments architecture, operating across a landscape of legacy platforms, modern digital channels, and a significant number of third-party suppliers.

A core focus of the role will be driving supplier and platform consolidation, while defining and delivering robust integration strategies across both digital channels and backend systems.

You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and vendor teams to ensure architectural alignment, scalability, and resilience across the payments ecosystem.

To Be Successful

• Strong background as a Payments OR Solutions Architect within Payments
• Deep understanding of the payment’s ecosystem (Financial Services or similar large-scale environments)
• Experience across the full payment’s lifecycle
• Proven track record in large-scale integration programmes
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and API-led integration
• Experience working with digital channels and backend systems integration
• Comfortable navigating complex, multi-vendor environments
• Exposure to legacy transformation and modernisation programmes
