Contract Software Engineer (AI Focus) - Up to £500 p/d - Outside IR35 - Fully Remote
Morson Edge are working with a company who are establishing a small, experimental AI-native engineering team focused on pioneering and validating future engineering capabilities. This team will work closely with the senior engineering manager and serve as the organisation’s first AI-native engineering capability. Initially comprising two highly skilled engineers, the unit will prioritise rapid experimentation and innovation over immediate production delivery.
The team’s focus areas include developing foundational AI platform capabilities to support wider AI adoption across engineering teams, experimenting with Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, AI orchestration patterns, and agent-driven development workflows. Additionally, the team will prototype AI-assisted code review systems aimed at automating code reviews, enforcing quality, and enhancing engineering productivity.
This role requires a strong viewpoint on the future of AI-driven development, AI-first engineering workflows, and emerging tooling ecosystems. The emphasis is on experimentation, innovation, and continuous learning to shape the organisation’s AI-native engineering practices.
Skills
- Expertise in AI-native software engineering and rapid experimentation
