Contract Software Engineer
React Native Engineer - £400 per day (Outside IR35) - Remote UK - Part time role (2-3 days per week)
We’re working with an early-stage, product-led business looking for a React Native Engineer to play a key role in bringing their mobile app to life.
This is a hands-on opportunity to take an existing app and refine, stabilise and scale it through to production, with real ownership over the product and its direction.
The Role
You’ll focus primarily on improving and completing a React Native application, ensuring it’s production-ready, performant, and delivers a seamless user experience.
Alongside this, you’ll work across a modern cloud stack — integrating with AWS services, including serverless architecture and elements of machine learning via SageMaker.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance, debug, and deliver a high-quality React Native (TypeScript) mobile app
- Take ownership of features from development through to release
- Improve performance, stability, and overall user experience
- Integrate the app with backend services and APIs
- Work with AWS (Lambda) to support scalable, serverless functionality
- Collaborate on ML-driven features leveraging SageMaker (Python)
- Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering best practices
Tech Stack
- React Native (TypeScript)
- AWS
- Lambda (serverless architecture)
- SageMaker (Python – ML integration)
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience with React Native, ideally using TypeScript
- Experience improving or taking over existing mobile applications
- Proven track record of shipping apps to production
- Solid understanding of mobile performance, debugging, and UX
- Experience integrating with APIs and cloud services (AWS preferred)
- Exposure to serverless architectures (Lambda)
- Interest in or experience with machine learning / AI integrations
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
If you enjoy taking an existing product, improving it, and getting it over the line, this is a brilliant opportunity to make a tangible difference.
