Our Higher Education client, a global leader in delivering innovative online learning solutions is seeking a DevOps Engineer/Systems Administrator to join their Platform Services team.

The DevOps Engineer/Systems Admin postholder will be responsible for standardising how services are built, deployed, and operated, driving automation, repeatability, and robust documentation.

You will turn manual tasks into automated pipelines, maintain configuration-as-code (Terraform, Ansible), keep environments well-documented and testable, and collaborate with engineers and developers across Digital Services.

This is a hands-on, varied role ideal for someone comfortable in Linux/LAMP environments, who enjoys improving processes and tooling and can help guide others as ways of working evolve.

DevOps Engineer/Systems Admin-Linux-LAMP- Higher Education Essential Experience

Hands-on experience with Linux and LAMP operations.
Solid understanding of web technologies.
Experience with configuration-as-code and automation tools.
Familiarity with deployment pipelines, version control, and automated testing.
Exposure to automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Perl,).
Experience of deploying software on a Unix-based operating system (Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, RHEL,)
Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in teams and motivate colleagues.
Customer-focused mindset, proactively engaging with stakeholders.
Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

DevOps Engineer/Systems Admin-Linux-LAMP- Higher Education- Desirable Skills:
Experience using Terraform, Ansible, Perl, or similar for automation.
Proven ability to drive improvements in processes and tooling.

Key Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain standardised operating procedures for deployment, configuration, and testing.
Automate manual tasks and deployment processes.
Maintain version-controlled configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
Keep virtual machine and service configurations documented and up to date.
Support automated testing (unit, integration, regression).
Prepare and maintain technical documentation in line with standards.
Collaborate with engineers, developers, and operational teams to deliver high-quality services.
Provide customer support and record activities in service management tools.
Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and tooling.

Fully remote with the need to come on site 4 days per year in London.
