Due to an increase in workload, they are now hiring for 3 Control Room Operators for each of their campus in London, Manchester & Slough.

The Role
We are seeking a Control Room Operator to join our mission-critical data centre operations team. This role is central to maintaining uptime, monitoring critical systems, and responding to incidents in a high-availability environment. The successful candidate will work in a 24/7 control room environment, ensuring the smooth operation of electrical, mechanical, and IT infrastructure systems that support our data centre.

Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Operations

  • Monitor all Building Management Systems (BMS), Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM), and security platforms.
  • Track real-time performance of power, cooling, fire suppression, and network systems.
  • Escalate alarms and anomalies according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Incident & Emergency Response

  • Act as the first point of contact for incidents and outages.
  • Coordinate communication between on-site engineers, external vendors, and management.
  • Execute and document emergency procedures in line with SLA/OLA requirements.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate shift logs, incident reports, and escalation records.
  • Support audit and compliance requirements (ISO 27001, ISO 22301, Uptime Tier Standards).
  • Provide shift handover briefings to ensure continuity of operations.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to data centre security and access control procedures.
  • Follow HSE and risk management guidelines during incidents.
  • Support testing and drills for fire, power failure, and emergency evacuation.


Skills & Qualifications
Essential:

  • Experience in a control room, NOC, SOC, or critical facilities monitoring environment (preferably in data centres, telecoms, or utilities).
  • Knowledge of BMS, DCIM, SCADA or similar monitoring platforms.
  • Strong technical awareness of HVAC, UPS, generators, fire systems, and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication skills for incident management and escalation.
  • Ability to work rotating 24/7 shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays).

Desirable:

  • Certifications: CompTIA Server+, CCNA, or equivalent facilities/technical qualifications.
  • Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier standards, ISO 27001, or ITIL frameworks.
  • Previous experience in mission-critical industries (finance, defence, healthcare, telecoms).
