Systems Engineer

Position Summary
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of systems architecture involving PLCs, SCADA software, and database technologies. This role is integral in delivering fully integrated industrial automation solutions that align with functional and client-specific requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design, develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI/SCADA software.
Develop and maintain data systems, including writing queries and integrating with databases.
Implement and support control systems for industrial machinery such as motors, sensors, and conveyance systems.
Assist with field installation, commissioning, and maintenance using computer-aided engineering and design tools.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
Monitor and evaluate system performance, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions where needed.
Serve as the lead systems engineering resource during project start-up phases.
Support Estimating and Project Management teams with cost estimation and resourcing strategies.
Participate in project meetings and maintain alignment with contractors and internal stakeholders.
Follow all applicable safety standards, protocols, and procedures.
Domestic and international travel required (approximately 20–30% annually).
Additional Responsibilities
Act as the primary electrical support during on-site project installations.
Foster a collaborative and solution-focused team environment.
Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment
This role involves both office and field-based work (£ Travel Bonus). Site visits may expose the engineer to noise, dust, chemicals, varying weather conditions, and other potential hazards. Travel is required both within the country and internationally, occasionally to remote locations with limited accommodations. Use of personal protective equipment and strict adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
Physical Demands
The role requires frequent walking, standing, manual dexterity, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and other physical activities. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and remaining alert in fast-paced or hazardous environments.
Qualifications
BTEC Level 3 in General Engineering or related field required.
Certifications in networking or database management are a plus.
Educational or professional background in electrical engineering or related discipline required.
Experience with PLC programming (Rockwell and/or Siemens preferred).
Familiarity with SCADA platforms experience with Ignition is an advantage.
Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and web-based programming is desirable.
Strong understanding of P&ID diagrams is highly preferred.
Practical mechanical aptitude is beneficial.
Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite required.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.
Must be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or within a team.
Flexibility to accommodate varied working hours, including some weekends.
