Length of contract – 12 months with the intension to extend
Pay rate: Principal Engineer £31.86 per hour
Working Patten- 3 days in the office / 2 days WFH minimum (please note the client may require candidates to come to site more depending on workload)
We are recruiting a Telematics Control Unit Project Design Engineer for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement on-board telematics systems for the clients vehicles manufactured in Europe for global markets.
- Develop and deliver the IVC (In Vehicle Connectivity) ECU for specific vehicle programs
- Manage Tier 1 suppliers to deliver products to Quality, Cost & Timing targets.
- Generate and release of TCU configuration data
- Coordinate supplier validation to the clients design standards ahead of software release
- Collaborate with internal test departments to confirm function and performance of vehicle connected services
- Create and maintain cross carline development plans
- Collaborate with Telematics Service Providers, ensuring their development schedules are aligned to the clients milestones.
- Perform design reviews at key milestones
- Perform hands on investigation and analysis on both test bench and vehicle
- Deliver the commodity to project milestones meeting QCT targets
- Ensure design releases meet schedules.
- Closure of concerns to required cut off deadlines
- Manufacturing plant support where required.
- Have good written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work well within a team environment and take responsibility for your deliveries.
- Competent with PC applications. Including Microsoft Office apps.
- Self-motivating and self-managing. Pro-active. Positive. Energetic personality and flexible regarding working practice and working hours.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask between multiple projects simultaneously Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Manufacturing BOM management experience (advantageous)
- Office 365 tools (including Excel to intermediate/advanced level)
- Have fluent written and verbal English language capability.
- Be able to demonstrate and have practical experience in problem solving tools and techniques, and a strong mathematical understanding.
Required
- Experience in automotive ECU development
- Base level of system knowledge for vehicle connectivity.
- Understanding of mobile network infrastructure and data transfer
- Applicants with experience in ECU development other than telematics may be considered
Desirable
- Knowledge of 4G/5G technologies
- Knowledge of non-European mobile networks
- Knowledge of MQTT
- Knowledge of End to End System architecture understanding with Cloud Infrastructure
- Understanding of European eCall regulation
- Experience with analysis tools to check ECU function and performance such as CANalyser, DLT Viewer, Wireshark, UDS diagnostic tool etc.
