Lead Engineer / Senior Software Engineer

This is a hands-on lead role with broad ownership. You’ll work across customer-facing systems, internal tooling, integrations and infrastructure, solving genuinely interesting technical problems with plenty of autonomy.

You’ll lead and grow a small engineering team that values pragmatism, ownership and getting useful things shipped.

What you’ll work on

• Backend services, internal tools and automation
• Integrations across business-critical systems
• Cloud-native, containerised applications
• Event-driven systems and platform reliability
• CI/CD, testing and observability
• AI-assisted and agentic tooling to improve engineering workflows and reduce manual work

What we’re looking for

• Strong fullstack engineering experience
• Solid TypeScript experience; exposure to PHP is useful but not essential
• Experience with Postgres or similar relational databases
• Practical Kubernetes and CI/CD knowledge
• Comfortable owning systems from design through to deployment and maintenance
• Experience building event-driven systems
• Confident using modern AI-assisted coding tools
• Happy coaching others and helping improve engineering standards

This would suit someone who enjoys building, tinkering and solving difficult technical problems, while keeping the end user firmly in mind.

Location: Ideally you would be able to spend some time in the Kent based office, but we will be flexible for the right person.
