My Product Path is working with an established organisation undergoing a large-scale digital transformation programme, modernising its technology stack and cloud platform over the coming years. As part of this journey, they are looking to hire a Lead Platform Engineer to take ownership of their cloud-first platform and help shape the future of their cloud capability. This is a senior technical leadership role combining hands-on engineering with platform strategy, governance, and capability development.

The Role

• The Lead Platform Engineer will act as the technical authority for the cloud platform, responsible for designing, securing, and evolving a resilient and scalable cloud environment.
• You will work closely with Infrastructure, DevOps, and Systems teams to establish platform standards, security principles, and governance frameworks, while also leading the development of the Platform Engineering capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Platform Ownership - own the design and ongoing evolution.
• Define platform architecture, shared services, and engineering standards.
• Act as the technical authority for cloud networking and connectivity
• Resilience & Disaster Recovery - design and implement disaster recovery strategies.
• Define regional resilience and failover models.
• Lead regular DR testing and validation exercises.
• Security & Governance - embed Zero Trust security principles.
• Define and maintain platform hardening and security standards.
• Ensure designs align with security best practice and governance frameworks.
• Platform Standards & DevOps Alignment - establish platform standards, patterns, and guardrails.
• Work closely with DevOps teams to deliver infrastructure through Infrastructure as CodeSupport the transition to automated, repeatable deployment models.
• Leadership & Capability Development - provide technical leadership and mentorship within the platform team.
• Help shape the Platform Engineering operating modelSupport future team growth and capability development.

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience designing and owning cloud platforms at scale.
• Strong expertise in cloud networking (Firewalls, Front Door, NSGs, routing, service connectivity)
• Experience implementing cloud disaster recovery and resilience strategies
• Strong understanding of cloud security, identity, and Zero Trust principlesExperience acting as a technical authority or platform lead
• Strong collaboration with DevOps teams using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Bicep, Terraform or similar.
