Senior Backend Engineer (Python) – Remote

My client is a rapidly scaling AI company transforming global debt markets. Their platform centralises proprietary credit data, deep analysis, and high-value workflows for 300+ leading financial institutions worldwide. Strong product-market fit, international expansion underway.
The Role
A senior backend position with real technical ownership. You'll lead system design, drive backend architecture decisions, and mentor engineers — all on a platform serving serious institutional clients at scale. This isn't a supporting role; you'll have a direct say in how things are built.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading backend system design and delivering scalable, production-grade services
Building and evolving REST APIs, data processing pipelines, and automation workflows
Mentoring engineers and maintaining high standards through code reviews
Collaborating with Product and domain experts to translate complex requirements into clean backend solutions
Owning performance, reliability, and developer experience improvements

What They're Looking For

• Strong Python backend experience — Flask currently, migrating to FastAPI with type annotations

• Proven experience designing and building APIs within service-oriented or microservices architectures

• Solid SQL and PostgreSQL — comfortable with complex queries and schema design

• AWS — Lambda and ECS

• Docker and containerised deployments

• Strong system design instincts, particularly around data flow and scalability

• High coding standards and a collaborative approach
