The Opportunity:

The purpose of the Enterprise Architect role is to support the design and evolution of the organisation’s enterprise architecture and architectural governance to ensure alignment between business strategy, processes, information, technology, and infrastructure. This role acts as a strategic advisor, bridging business objectives with IT capabilities, and guiding large-scale transformation and modernisation initiatives, specifically the rationalisation of business applications

Responsibilities:

Strategic Architecture Planning:

  • Define and maintain the enterprise architecture vision, principles, and standards.
  • Align architecture strategy with business goals and objectives.
  • Ensure vendor solutions align with enterprise architecture standards

Architecture Governance:

  • Establish architecture review boards and enforce compliance with architectural standards.
  • Maintain architecture documentation and ensure proper version control.

Technology and Capability Roadmaps:

  • Develop current-state and future-state architecture views.
  • Define and manage architecture roadmaps and transition states.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, and solution architects to understand needs and provide architectural guidance.
  • Communicate architectural decisions and their business impact.

Solution Design Oversight:

  • Ensure that projects and solutions are aligned with the enterprise architecture.
  • Provide input to solution and domain architects as required.

Risk and Cost Management:

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and propose cost-effective, scalable solutions.
  • Identify architectural risks and mitigate them through design and governance.

Key Priorities:

  • Align enterprise architecture with strategic business transformation goals.
  • Modernise legacy systems and infrastructure in line with future-state vision.
  • Improve integration and interoperability across platforms and business units.
  • Enable digital transformation, cloud adoption, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Promote reuse, standardisation, and simplification of IT assets.

Qualifications and Skills:

Functional Skills:

  • Enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)
  • Business capability and operating model design
  • Strategic planning and transformation leadership
  • Governance and compliance management
  • Vendor and contract evaluation

Technical Skills:

  • Architecture modelling tools (e.g., ArchiMate, Sparx EA, Bizzdesign)
  • Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Integration technologies (e.g., APIs, microservices, ESBs)
  • Data architecture and management
  • Cybersecurity principles and architectural implications
