Senior Presales Engineer
Senior Pre-Sales Engineer | NCG Global | Hybrid (UK)
We're looking for an experienced Pre-Sales Engineer to join NCG's technical team. In this role, you'll be at the heart of our customer engagement — working alongside our sales team to design and scope network solutions that win deals, retain customers, and deliver genuine technical value. From initial discovery through to project handover, you'll own the pre-sales technical journey and ensure every solution is fit for purpose before it reaches delivery.
Beyond pre-sales, you'll serve as a senior point of escalation for our engineering team — bringing your experience and vendor knowledge to bear on complex challenges and helping to raise the technical bar across the business. You'll also play a key role in developing partner relationships and expanding NCG's expertise across our multi-vendor technology stack.
About the Role
- As Pre-Sales Engineer at NCG, you'll work directly with prospective and existing customers to scope, design, and present network solutions that genuinely meet their needs. You'll attend customer calls and on-site surveys, act as technical authority during sales engagements, and ensure a smooth, well-documented handover into delivery.
- This isn't a purely pre-sales function — you'll also collaborate with our Digital and engineering teams to integrate network solutions with space management, access control, and CCTV systems, and contribute to product development through PoC exercises. You'll report directly to the CTO and play a key role in shaping how NCG presents itself as a credible, expert technical partner.
- This is primarily a remote role, with one day per week in our central London office and travel to customer sites as opportunities arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the sales team to scope and design solutions for prospective customers, ensuring everything is technically fit-for-purpose, supportable, and well-qualified before it reaches delivery
- Attend on-site surveys and customer calls as the technical authority, representing NCG professionally at every stage of the sales cycle
- Lead the creation of HLDs, LLDs, and other pre-sales documentation — keeping reference materials accurate and up to date
- Expand NCG's vendor knowledge and partner relationships in line with our technology roadmap
- Participate in PoC exercises as part of ongoing product development
- Provide escalation support to the wider engineering team on complex technical challenges
- Collaborate with Digital teams and third parties to integrate network solutions with ancillary systems
- Champion security best practices in every solution design, for both internal and customer-facing environments
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience in network architecture, design, and implementation at ISP or MSP level
- Strong command of networking protocols and security principles
- Relevant certifications such as JNCIP, CCNP, or CCNA (desirable, not essential — practical experience matters most)
- Confidence acting as a trusted technical authority in front of customers and senior stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly
- Experience producing high-quality technical documentation (HLDs, CDDs, solution specs)
- A collaborative mindset — comfortable working across sales, engineering, and digital teams
- Previous experience in a senior network engineering or mentoring capacity is a plus
