Accountant

Our client is an established family office supporting the financial affairs of a high-net-worth family, together with the accounting, investment and compliance requirements of a number of associated financial interests.
They are seeking a professionally qualified Accountant to join their team in a broad and varied position that goes well beyond traditional financial accounting.
Working closely with colleagues across finance, tax, administration and compliance, you will be responsible for supporting a wide range of accounting and reporting activities while also becoming involved in investment reporting, corporate governance, technology and process improvement.

Your Role and Responsibilities:
While in this position your duties may include but may not be limited to:

  • Preparing and supporting the delivery of accurate financial and wealth reporting information.
  • Supporting investment performance reporting and financial analysis.
  • Reviewing financial information prior to upload and ensuring reporting is accurate and complete.
  • Supporting asset revaluations and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Preparing and maintaining loan summaries, loan schedules, quarterly loan memoranda and asset statements.
  • Monitoring loan and mortgage repayment dates and ensuring relevant information is kept up to date.
  • Calculating annual asset revaluations and preparing supporting information.
  • Maintaining accurate records of investments, loans, mortgages and associated financial information.
  • Maintaining an electronic investment database, including tax and legal jurisdiction information.
  • Supporting the preparation of financial information for a pension scheme and associated companies.
  • Reviewing management accounts, VAT returns, year-end financial statements and audit documentation.
  • Supporting the finance team with tax, governance and compliance requirements.
  • Maintaining statutory books, registers and corporate records.
  • Supporting company secretarial activities and statutory and regulatory filings.
  • Monitoring relevant Companies House and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting the development and improvement of financial and investment reporting systems.
  • Identifying opportunities to automate repetitive processes and improve efficiency.
  • Assisting with technology and process improvement projects from specification through to implementation.
  • Supporting the introduction and effective use of Microsoft 365, automation and artificial intelligence solutions.
  • Liaising with internal colleagues, external suppliers and management during projects.
  • Providing training and support to colleagues when new systems or processes are introduced.
  • Contributing to continuous improvements across finance, administration and compliance.
  • Working collaboratively across the office to support wider business objectives.

What You Will Need to Apply:

  • A professionally qualified accountant with at least three years of relevant experience within practice or industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.
  • Good understanding of reconciliations, financial controls and reporting processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • An interest in investment reporting and financial administration.
  • A genuine interest in technology, automation and process improvement.
  • Experience improving processes, systems or ways of working would be advantageous.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
  • A practical and solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to work with confidential financial and personal information with complete discretion.
  • A professional, approachable and collaborative manner.
