Investments Accountant

Our client is an established family office supporting the financial affairs of a high-net-worth family, alongside the accounting, investment and compliance requirements of a number of associated financial interests.
An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a professionally qualified Investments Accountant to join the team and take responsibility across investment accounting, wealth reporting, financial administration and operational improvement.
The position would suit an accountant who enjoys working with detailed financial information and has an interest in investments, assets, loans and reporting, while also wanting the opportunity to become involved in technology, automation and wider business improvement projects.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
While in this position your duties may include but may not be limited to:
- Supporting the delivery of accurate and timely wealth and investment reporting.
- Preparing and reviewing investment reporting information prior to upload.
- Supporting investment performance reporting and analysis.
- Maintaining accurate records of investments, assets, loans and mortgages.
- Preparing and maintaining master loan summaries, quarterly loan memoranda, loan schedules and asset statements.
- Monitoring loan and mortgage repayment dates and ensuring relevant actions are completed.
- Calculating annual asset revaluations and preparing supporting information for reporting and compliance purposes.
- Supporting intercompany reconciliations and investment-related financial reporting.
- Maintaining an accurate electronic investment database.
- Ensuring relevant tax and legal jurisdiction information is correctly recorded.
- Developing and maintaining effective investment filing and information management systems.
- Supporting financial administration for a pension scheme and associated companies.
- Reviewing management accounts, VAT returns, year-end financial statements and audit files.
- Supporting the wider finance team with tax, governance and compliance requirements.
- Maintaining statutory books, registers and corporate records.
- Supporting company secretarial and corporate governance activities.
- Ensuring statutory and regulatory information is accurate and submitted within relevant deadlines.
- Identifying opportunities to improve investment and financial reporting processes.
- Developing practical solutions to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency and information management.
- Supporting automation projects and the implementation of new financial systems and technologies.
- Assisting with the introduction of artificial intelligence and Microsoft 365 solutions.
- Managing or supporting project plans, system specifications, testing and implementation.
- Working with internal users, external suppliers and management throughout improvement projects.
- Supporting colleagues with training and adoption of new systems and processes.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality when dealing with investment, financial and personal information.
- Contributing to wider operational improvements across the family office.
What You Will Need to Apply:
- A professionally qualified accountant with at least three years of relevant experience gained within practice or industry.
- Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
- An interest in investments, asset reporting and financial administration.
- Experience working with detailed financial information and maintaining accurate records.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- A genuine interest in technology, automation and continuous improvement.
- Experience improving financial systems or processes would be advantageous.
- Strong Microsoft 365 skills, with advanced knowledge particularly advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
- A practical and solution-focused approach to problem solving.
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- A professional, tactful and approachable manner.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a small team.
- A commitment to professional development and CPD requirements.
