Senior Service Engineer

NET Recruit is pleased to be partnering with an established and growing communications and technology business in their search for a Senior Service Engineer to join their technical support team, based in Eastleigh. The organisation provides specialist radio communication, security, and technology solutions to a diverse customer base, ranging from smaller businesses through to large global organisations.
The business delivers both standard and bespoke communication and security systems, supporting customers throughout the full lifecycle of their solutions. This includes initial technical support and demonstrations, installation and commissioning, ongoing maintenance, repairs, and technical support.
The successful candidate will play a fundamental role within the technical team, working closely with customers, sales colleagues, and other internal teams to deliver reliable and professional technical solutions. The role will also provide exposure to large-scale events, including festivals, sporting events, stadiums, and entertainment venues.
Your Role and Responsibilities
While in this position, your duties may include but are not limited to:
- Conducting initial site surveys and preventative maintenance inspections.
- Documenting survey findings and producing accurate technical and maintenance reports.
- Supporting the sales team with technical advice, product information, and quotations.
- Assisting with equipment demonstrations and customer enquiries.
- Designing, building, testing, installing, and commissioning new communication and security systems.
- Carrying out Factory Acceptance Testing and ensuring systems meet the required technical standards before deployment.
- Providing technical support throughout the installation and commissioning process.
- Configuring communication, security, and technology equipment across the company's product portfolio.
- Providing first-line technical support to customers remotely via telephone and computer.
- Carrying out servicing, repairs, and routine maintenance of customer equipment.
- Completing bench repairs on both customer-owned and company assets.
- Installing equipment across both static and mobile applications.
- Providing on-site technical support at festivals, sporting events, stadiums, and entertainment venues.
- Supporting short-term hire systems and event communication solutions.
- Participating in the company's call-out rota to provide 24/7, 365-day technical support to contracted customers.
- Producing accurate system documentation and technical notes following installations and maintenance activities.
- Supporting customers and internal teams in resolving technical issues efficiently.
- Providing support to the company's Northern regional office when required.
- Travelling throughout the Southern region and occasionally further afield to support customers and projects.
- Working flexibly to meet customer and project requirements, including occasional evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
What You Will Need to Apply:
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to have previous experience in a Service Engineer, Field Engineer, Technical Support, Communications Engineer, or similar technical position. Experience working with radio communications, security systems, telecommunications, or related technology would be highly advantageous.
Knowledge and practical experience working with RF devices is particularly desirable, together with a fundamental understanding of IT networks. Experience working with manufacturers such as Motorola, Hytera, Icom, Kirisun, or Caltta would also be beneficial.
You will need to be technically minded, practical, and comfortable troubleshooting equipment both remotely and on customer sites. Experience working on large projects with tight deadlines would be advantageous.
A valid UK driving licence is essential, as the role involves regular travel throughout the Southern region and occasional travel further afield. You should also be comfortable working away from home for short periods where required.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks through to completion. A strong customer-focused approach is essential, together with good written and verbal communication skills.
You will need excellent attention to detail and the ability to learn new technologies and systems quickly. A willingness to work flexibly is important, as the role can involve evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays, and participation in a 24-hour call-out rota.
Security clearance would be desirable but is not essential.
