IT Internal Systems Apprentice
The apprentice role will be based within the Internal Systems team at NetSupport's head office in Market Deeping, near Peterborough. This is a primarily office-based role due to the hands-on nature of supporting infrastructure, hardware and co-location services.
Role
As part of the Internal Systems team, you will help provide IT support to NetSupport employees located in the UK and internationally, whilst also assisting customers who use our co-location facilities. This is a varied and hands-on role offering exposure to all aspects of modern Information Technology.
The Internal Systems team is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance and security of the company's technology infrastructure, ensuring staff have the tools and support necessary to work effectively and securely.
The Apprentice Role Includes the Following Responsibilities:
- Providing IT support to internal staff via phone, email, Microsoft Teams and in-person assistance
- Supporting remote and home-based workers, including international employees
- Logging, tracking and updating support requests through the ServiceDesk ticketing system
- Assisting with daily health checks of IT systems and services, including servers, Microsoft 365, network infrastructure, backups, security platforms and monitoring systems, helping to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact users
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and connectivity issues
- Configuring, deploying and maintaining laptops, desktops, servers, mobile devices and peripheral equipment
- Assisting with the administration of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure services, including: Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Azure, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Teams Phone, Exchange Online
- Supporting user account creation, administration, permissions and access management
- Assisting with the maintenance, monitoring and administration of server infrastructure, virtual machines and cloud services
- Supporting network infrastructure including switches, wireless networks and general connectivity troubleshooting
- Assisting with backup monitoring, recovery testing and business continuity processes
- Assisting with IT asset management, equipment inventory and device lifecycle management
- Providing remote hands support for co-location customers, including equipment checks, hardware installations, cabling and site visits
- Assisting with cyber security operations including vulnerability management, endpoint protection, security monitoring and incident response activities
- Supporting business projects involving infrastructure upgrades, automation and new technology implementations
- Working closely with other departments across the business to resolve technical issues and improve IT services

Training
The classroom training for the Information Communications Technician comprises of 4 modules. The apprentice will attend the training in an online classroom with their designated JBC trainer.
The modules taught are:
- Network Fundamentals
- Mobility and Operating Systems
- Cloud Fundamentals
- IT Business Principles
Each module is delivered remotely over five consecutive days, with the training weeks scheduled at intervals throughout the apprenticeship.
Fulltime employment and long term career progression within NetSupport is available after the successful completion of the apprenticeship.
