Senior DevOps Engineer

We’re recruiting for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join an established team of DevOps professionals. You’ll work closely with cross functional teams to enhance the way our client builds, deploys, and maintains systems. With a focus on automation, performance, and reliability, you'll help ensure the infrastructure is secure, scalable, and running smoothly using, Kubernetes, Elastic, and Azure platform.
A key part of the role involves supporting and mentoring a group of five mid-level consultants. You’ll offer guidance through regular check-ins, spot-check work, while encouraging best practices. We’re looking for someone who enjoys nurturing talent and sharing knowledge, while also rolling up their sleeves to solve complex technical challenges alongside the team.
This is a part-time, onsite role (2 days per week) with our financial services client. Experience of working in a regulated environment is a strong plus, as you’ll be contributing to systems where compliance and security are central. Key Responsibilities:
Platform Support & Operational Oversight
- Triage and diagnose platform issues, ensuring timely resolution or escalation where required
- Oversee the execution of key operational activities to support project delivery
- Collaborate with technology vendors to support cross-technology integration
- Plan and provision capacity across environments to maintain performance and reliability
- Conduct vulnerability scans and implement appropriate countermeasures in line with security best practices
Problem & Event Management
- Analyse trends in operational issues to proactively identify and mitigate recurring problems
- Investigate and resolve platform-impacting problems, prioritising based on risk and impact
- Share known errors and lessons learned with BAU teams to enhance ongoing reliability
- Identify and correlate critical system events and alerts using established error patterns
Change & Configuration Management
- Review, plan, and coordinate platform changes and updates, some of which may occur out of hours
- Support infrastructure configuration and lifecycle management in accordance with industry and client standards
- Contribute to release planning and review test strategies to ensure smooth deployments
Mentorship & Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to a team of five mid-level consultants
- Conduct regular check-ins, spot reviews, and mentoring sessions to ensure high-quality, best-practice DevOps delivery
- Act as a trusted advisor across teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration
Service Monitoring & Risk Reporting
- Identify and raise risks or blockers to successful delivery early
- Recommend optimisations or cost-effective alternatives to current practices where appropriate
