Senior Data Liaison Officer - x4 posts

Working Conditions:

  • Remote with very occasional travel to an office for team meetings
  • 37.5 hours per week.

Job Purpose:

We are recruiting for a Senior Data Liaison Officer within the Data Improvement team, part of the Data Collection and Improvement function. The team supports providers to improve the quality and completeness of the data they submit centrally to NHS England helping drive real-world impact through better insight.

The Federated Data Platform:

NHS England’s Data and Analytics Directorate is driving the transformation to put patients in control of their data, support clinicians, decision-makers, and researchers with real-time, high-quality data, and empower the NHS Data Community to leverage their skills for high-value opportunities. We pride ourselves on our dedication, creativity, and values-driven approach to improving decision-making across health and care, helping people live healthier, longer lives.

The NHS relies on data every day to manage patient care and plan services, but it is often stored in systems that don’t communicate with each other, creating burdens for both patients and staff.

The Federated Data Platform connects existing NHS systems, allowing each Trust and Integrated Care Board to manage their own customised version, enhancing data integration and care coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusted relationships with providers and support data quality improvement across key datasets (e.g. Emergency Care, Mental Health, Community)
  • Use dashboards to identify submission issues and support resolution
  • Support the delivery of regional and national engagement (e.g. webinars, surveys, user groups)
  • Contribute to team-wide improvement projects and performance reporting
  • Analyse provider feedback and identify common challenges and opportunities
  • Deputise for the Data Liaison Manager when needed

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of NHS information systems and data flows
  • Experience of responding to internal and external technical queries, acting as a point of escalation
  • Experience creating high-quality reports based on complex information and analysis
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration experience
  • Ability to present technical information clearly to varied audiences

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in data improvement or data operations
  • Understanding of specific NHS care settings (e.g. mental health, community health)
  • Familiarity with managing group engagement activities such as webinars or surveys

Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate level, or equivalent experience delivering operational services within health or data-focused organisations
  • Familiarity with NHS data standards
  • Data or analytics certification (e.g. Microsoft Excel/Data Analyst cert, Power BI, SQL, or NHS Digital Academy modules)

Why Join Us?

  • Band 7 salary £46,148 - £52,809 (dependent on experience and the number of years you have worked within the NHS)
