Job summary
At NHS Blood & Transplant (NHSBT) we are a kind of service that saves and improves lives. We have a unique opportunity to join our service within Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation (OTDT) as a Lead Product Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for a specific technology domain within our OTDT product centre. You will possess an excellent breadth of knowledge of the OTDT product landscape and be responsible for ensuring demand from our organisation and regulators are captured and appropriate solutions are prioritised and progressed into delivery.
Main duties of the job
The Lead Product Manager- Clinical within - OTDT is responsible for a specific technology domain (e.g.) within the OTDT product centre and therefore possess an excellent breadth of knowledge of the OTDT product landscape and the current OTDT clinical landscape, ensuring all demand from the business and regulators is captured and appropriate solutions are prioritised and progressed into delivery in line with the needs of the business.
The post holder will require a current Nursing Midwifery Council registration with a deep clinical understanding of the OTDT pathways. They will have expert product management skills and a technical understanding of the existing OTDT products and current architecture.
Responsibilities will include ensuring the strategic direction of OTDT is realised (such as clinical digital safety and improved integration and access to data) through ownership of the product domain vision, demand management process, product solutions, product backlog, and integrated change roadmap by championing improved ways of working (e.g. Agile & DevOps).

Job responsibilities
You will be responsible for their technology domain at the product board which sits monthly with the purpose of controlling changes to OTDT products, and which has the authority to prioritise and improve demand items to progress to analysis, as well as approving the scope of each software release. The post holder will have excellent planning & communication skills leading conversations with clinical product users and advisory groups, architects, business analysts, developers and senior managers to ensure alignment.
In this post you will be a budget holder and directly line manage a team of up to 12 senior product managers, product managers & associate product managers.
This role will support the evolution of the OTDT Product Management Team by leading their technology product domain, managing the change and responsibilities of its members, ensuring alignment with the Central, Digital and Data Office (CDDO) Government Digital, Data Profession Capability Framework and digital clinical safety. The team are also critical to the successful delivery of high—profile change programmes.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Current Nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Educated to a Masters degree level OR equivalent extensive training / experience in a relevant field
- Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
Experience
- Substantial management and leadership experience at a senior level including experience in managing & motivating people to deliver strategic & business objectives
- Extensive experience managing demand of new and existing products and services in an agile environment.
- Experience in negotiating and influencing a variety of stakeholders and third party contracted partners and suppliers.
- Expert in defining & communicating outcomes to be met by a product area and its related services, whether these are user needs, technical requirements or business-related outcomes.
- Experience in championing and implementing changes that foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Expertise in working with teams and stakeholders to define user stories with suitable acceptance criteria, key performance indicators (KPIs) and associated performance metrics and measures.
- Experience in defining and maintaining iterative product roadmaps, feature or development backlogs and release plans to meet clearly defined outcomes.
- Expertise in communicating ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audience groups using multiple remote and face-to-face methods
- Expertise in producing clear written & visual communications and oral presentations about product- or service-related decisions and priorities
- Experience in delivering difficult messages (e.g. implications of delivery issues, risks or trade-offs) in an appropriate & professional way to senior stakeholders.
- Expertise in forming productive working relationships with colleagues at all levels and within a complex structure
