As a Regional End User Technical Support Engineer, you will play a key role in keeping NHS Blood and Transplants IT services running smoothly across multiple sites. You will install, configure, and support a wide range of hardware, software, and clinical critical systems, providing both face to face and remote assistance to colleagues.

Working in a fast paced, customer focused environment, you will manage IT incidents, resolve issues within agreed service levels, and ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and fit for purpose. Through your technical expertise and clear communication, you will help colleagues deliver life saving services every day, while contributing to service improvement, projects, and the overall resilience of NHSBTs IT infrastructure.

Main duties of the job

Your responsibilities will include:

  • You will be required to install, configure and support IT hardware, software and systems across all of our NHSBT sites.
  • You will provide regional incident support for IT services to all our customers, managing the incidents, including using Customer Service Desk software, and balancing priorities and resources to ensure the best possible outcome for each customer and NHSBT.
  • You will work face to face and remotely with our staff, understanding their immediate and upcoming IT requirements and issues, and providing advice and support on the most appropriate solutions, in accordance with our policies.
  • You will be required to perform tasks essential to the provision and maintenance of IT systems.
  • You will provide technical expertise through participating in, and chairing, expert groups, weekly team call reviews and project meetings.
  • You will represent the Directorate at centre-based meetings and working groups.
  • You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.
  • You will be required to take part in an out of hours on call rota that could include some weekend work.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Degree in computing, or equivalent experience
  • Possess a valid driving licence, allowing you to drive in the UK
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of working in a similar customer-focused IT support environment
  • Experience of providing support with Microsoft Office 365 including Windows 7 and 10
  • Experience of working to a Service Level Agreement
  • Experience and understanding of supporting Thin Client Citrix environments
