You ll help modernise legacy systems, manage servers both on-premises and in Azure cloud and contribute to DevOps practices. Main duties of the job You will develop and deploy high-quality information systems, and applications using approved technologies. Your aim will be to produce and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for NHSBT applications. As a Senior Systems Developer, you will support strategic software development aligned with NHSBT s values and goals and ensure robust disaster recovery procedures are in place and tested. You will also be researching emerging technologies and bringing forward ideas that drive innovation whilst maintaining and improving existing applications through stakeholder engagement and workshops. This will also involve collaborating with suppliers to ensure technology choices align with NHSBT s strategic aims and assisting in the procurement and implementation of third-party systems. You will also provide expert advice and support to the Systems Development and Integration Team, whilst promoting analytical skills and mentoring others across NHSBT, whilst working closely with the Business Intelligence and Data Management teams to deliver technical solutions. About You Qualifications and Training
- Relevant degree level plus practical experience or Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science
- Extensive training in software development tools and methodologies and in database technologies, including Oracle and SQL Server
- Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
- Knowledge and substantial proven experience in software development, with experience in MuleSoft, Java, ActiveMQ, REST, SOAP, RAML, Putty, Git, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, Linux
- Direct proven experience of software development methodologies and database design, in both a Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle environment.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of the design, development, management and maintenance of information systems across an organisation.
- Specialised knowledge of software architectures across a wide range of industry standard platforms.
- Knowledge of database modelling theory.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Visio and Excel.
- Knowledge of general IT legislation such as the Data Protection Act and the Computer Misuse Act.
- Practical experience of the entire software development life-cycle and managing own workload to deliver software solutions to agreed timescales.
