Job summary
Join the NHS Business Services Authority as a Degree Apprentice in Digital, Data and Technology. Eligibility Criteria:
- You must not currently be in full-time education or hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject.
- You must have the right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK/EU for at least three years, currently residing in England (as per government guidelines).

Main duties of the job
As a Degree Apprentice in Digital, Data and Technology, you'll join a dynamic team that designs, develops, and supports digital systems across the NHSBSA. From the start, you'll be involved in meaningful projects that help deliver and enhance digital services for both internal operations and external users nationwide.Working alongside experienced professionals--including software developers, software testers, platform engineers, and agile delivery teams--you'll gain hands-on experience in a wide range of technical areas. Your day-to-day work may involve, developing new software, testing our digital solutions and analysing technical issues
At the same time, you'll be studying towards a Degree Apprenticeship in Digital Technology Solutions (Software Engineering pathway). This structured programme allows you to apply your academic learning directly to your role, with support from mentors and colleagues who are committed to your development and success.

Job responsibilities
In this role, you are accountable for
1. Analyse, interpret and report information and knowledge of technical subjects and concepts to influence decisions.
2. Manages degree course workload and studies. Achieves good results within the University course.
3. Coordinates efforts with colleagues, effectively communicates to achieve a high standard across all aspects of the role.
4. Applies the appropriate methods and procedures for the development and testing of systems.
5. Designs, develops, enhances and tests ICT systems in accordance with ICT standards and customer requirements.
6. Monitors and supports the efficient and effective running of bespoke, third-party and mixed services. Uses incident, problem, request and change management processes and systems to support successful implementation of system enhancements and fault resolutions.
7. Responsible for analysing and resolving business and technical problems and identifying and assessing solutions in a timely and effective manner demonstrating creativity and innovation.
8. Is aware of their own development requirements, proactively seeks support and development opportunities to enhance their own skills and knowledge.
9. Communicates effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing.
10. Carries out research and development work to support future business needs e.g. pilots, evaluation and trials of new software packages or technologies.
11. Assists other members of the team and other teams within ICT and the wider delivery team where applicable.
12. Plans own work activities to achieve work package objectives. Escalates as appropriate any issues or conflicting priorities which may impact deadlines.
13. Responsible for adhering to data protection and security policies.
14. Contributes to the quality process by actively participating in Quality Assurance reviews.
15. Determine and apply appropriate quality and environmental policies to support best practice.
16. Monitors own and others health, safety and security in accordance with Authority policies.
17. Ensures own actions support equality, diversity and rights.
18. Participate in partnership working with other individuals, groups and agencies.
19. Maintain knowledge of market trends and an understanding of emerging technologies and business opportunities to assess their relevance and application in ICT. Knowledge and interest in computer systems, hardware, software and procedures, in particular around systems development.

Experience

- Experience of at least one of the following: 1. Agile methodologies 2.Java 3. HTML/ CSS/ JavaScript 4. Unix/Linux based operating systems 5. Databases
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C/4or above including Maths and English
- 120+ UCAS Tariff points
- Must meet the apprenticeship providers entry requirements to the corresponding course
- A Level or equivalent in Computing / IT subject or maths.
