Working as part of the team, you will gain experience in using data and population health intelligence to support neighbourhood working. You will respond to day-to-day analytical queries, work with a range of health and care datasets, and help turn data into useful information for local teams. You will use analytical systems and tools to maintain and analyse data, produce reports and insights, and work with colleagues across the system to understand local populations, identify areas of need and support service improvement and change.

Main duties of the job

As Principal Analyst for Population Health Management and Neighbourhood Intelligence, you will lead the delivery of high-quality analytical insight to support population health improvement, neighbourhood working and the reduction of health inequalities.

You will work collaborativelywith clinical, operational and system partners, provide expert analytical advice, manage projects and staff, and champion innovative, data-driven approaches across the Integrated Care System.

Person Specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential
  • Experience of information management and technology, analytics, population health or performance work within the public sector
  • Experience of troubleshooting technical, data, analytical and performance problems
Desirable
  • Experience of applying analytical methods to population health, service planning, pathway improvement or health inequalities
  • Knowledge and experience of population health management approaches, including population segmentation, risk stratification, cohort identification and evaluation.
  • Experience of working with and understanding primary care / GP data from national and local systems

Skills and abilities

Essential
  • In depth, detailed specialist knowledge of NHS information databases, systems, processes & solutions (2)
  • Ability to apply appropriate analytical and evaluation methods to assess variation, inequalities and the impact of interventions. (2)
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to define analytical questions where requirements may be complex or initially unclear. (2)
  • Ability to mentor others in application of appropriate descriptive statistics and standardisation. (2)
