Head of Digital Transformation (Lancashire & South Cumbria)
Job summary
Our vision is to drive digital transformation across the North West of England region for the benefit of our citizens, staff and operational effectiveness of the health and care service.
As the commissioning responsibility for Health and Social Care has moved to Integrated Care Boards (ICB) under delegated commissioning arrangements, regional teams will need the expertise to assure digital technology plans and delivery performance.
The team is responsible for leading the implementation of both national and regional digital transformational and information technology initiatives.
All these initiatives have dependencies on the effective and rapid deployment of systems, technology and information sharing solutions which require strong local collaboration and co-ordination with national strategies and plans.
This includes the leadership on the oversight of Integrated Care Board strategies and subsequent work programmes plans, offering advice and guidance, and seeking assurance.
The post holder will work with other directorates in the region to ensure that a positive patient and staff experience from digital is at the heart of healthcare.
Main duties of the job
As a Head of Digital Transformation for an assigned geographical location, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic regional team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the North West area to provide digital technology strategic leadership and vision to support local transformation programmes, across Health and Social Care.
The post holder will lead the provision of an efficient, effective, and high quality professional and well-coordinated Digital Technology service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation.
An important aspect of the role is about managing the interface with a range of stakeholders such as NHS England regional and national teams, Integrated Care Systems and the regional Ambulance Trust. The post-holder is expected to be able to engage confidently with and provide regular briefings for senior stakeholders.
The post holder will play a pivotal role in supporting ICBs to deliver the digital commitments of the national digital portfolio and any other workstreams.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
Knowedge & Experience
- Experience in Digital Transformation Business Case Review, challenge and approval.
- Experience leading strategy, operational planning and/ or delivery across an ICS for a digital programme or function.
Communication Skills
- Evidence of professional relationships with digital colleagues and leaders in ICBs and Provider Organisations.
Management Skills
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of expertise in providing senior leadership.
