PMO Lead

Job summary

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a PMO Lead to join the newly formed PMO team in North East London ICB.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced PMO Lead with a track record and experience of supporting end-to-end transformation, including prioritisation, impact reporting and assurance. They will be required to enable and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of senior internal and external stakeholders, across strategic, operational, and business-sensitive issues. They will be a trusted direct source of transformation delivery expertise to these stakeholders, providing meaningful challenge, advice, and feedback across the system.

Main duties of the job

The role of the PMO Lead is to support end-to-end transformation, including prioritisation, impact reporting, and assurance. The role will:

  • support the monitoring of core delivery unit resources to transformation programmes, in line with the prioritisation process;
  • contribute to the measurement of the impact of NEL's transformation programmes and supporting teams to improve this where necessary;
  • support of risk management and governance processes across the portfolio and supporting programmes with risk identification, mitigation, and escalation;
  • support the Transformation and PMO Forum;
  • support maintenance of the Transformation and PMO Toolkit; and
  • contribute to the coordination of the Transformation and PMO training programme.

The PMO Lead will support and coordinate elements of the portfolio management office's work and may be responsible for elements of the performance and impact of these areas of work.

This role will also provide line management within the portfolio management team, including pastoral care and support with professional development, as well as leading on the development of professional skills and standards.

Education / Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area

Knowledge

Essential
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of equality of opportunity and diversity. Being aware of how individual actions contribute to, and make a difference to, the equality agenda
Desirable
  • Knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project

Experience

Essential
  • Experience in relevant disciplines e.g. project management, change management, finance, contracts, estates, communications
  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
  • Experience of delivering effective projects in complex environments
  • Capable of working on own initiatives and managing own workload, working to tight and often changing timescales
Desirable
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes
