As a joint venture between the Department of Health and Social Care and Sopra Steria, our purpose is to provide high quality, scalable and efficient corporate services that enable the NHS to focus its people, resources and energy on delivering care. Today, our work reaches across hundreds of NHS organisations and underpins essential operations across finance, procurement, employment and digital services.

Every year, NHS SBS helps manage over £300 billion in NHS transactions, supporting the financial and operational stability of one of the most complex health systems in the world. The introduction of our new national Oracle Fusion finance and procurement platform, which brought 48 organisations onto a single cloud-based system, demonstrates the scale at which we operate and the trust placed in us to help modernise NHS infrastructure.

Growth Director

Reporting to the Managing Director and a member of the Executive Team, the Growth Director will be an experienced growth and contract manager, and an outstanding, accomplished leader who will lead and deliver significant profitable growth and wide ranging positive impact across the organisation and the NHS.

This is a highly visible, externally focused executive role operating at senior and system level, and to personally hold an agreed growth target, alongside overall accountability for the performance of the Growth function. You will lead all growth functions including Sales Directors, Solution Sales, Sales Operations, Account Management, Bid Management, Contract Management, Marketing & Communications.

The Growth Director will free up funds for front line care by leading the growth strategy, inspiring a collaborative, consulting led partnership with our clients to grow and embed a resilient and sustainable organisation, with effective client engagement and contract management approach to ensure our sales capability is fit to deliver the NHS SBS strategy.

The person

We are looking for an exceptional growth leader with a deep understanding and proven track record of success in public sector business development and complex sales cycles for multi-million-pound, commercial opportunities.

The Growth Director holds a pivotal role in delivering the organisation’s most ambitious five-year plan, 2026 - 2030.

NHS SBS delivered above market, double digit growth and outperformed the competition whilst also creating future proof products and services. The Growth role will join a successful executive team and have responsibility for growth budget with accountability for strong order growth, improved pipeline, win rate and book to bill alongside nett promoter scores, the development of product and value propositions to create best value for money solutions for the health system and market leading profitability.
