Job summary

NHS South Yorkshire ICB is a South Yorkshire wide organisation, employees work collaboratively travelling across our sites regularly.

Working as part of the ICB system delivery team the postholder will provide support to the organisational leaders in achieving the strategic objectives including delivering national service standards and delivering on a range of significant work programmes that all contribute to improving health and social outcomes for the communities of South Yorkshire.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide day to day management of directorate business management functions enabling the team to work effectively in order to deliver their priorities.

Working as a senior lead the postholder will be adept at building relationships both internally and with external system partners, communicating highly complex information and producing reports for a range of stakeholders.

The postholder will possess highly developed planning and project management skills, be able to develop performance and governance strategies and manage risks to ensure projects/programmes are delivered on timeand within budget.

A key aspect of the role will include the analysis, interpretation and reporting of complex information and data using a variety of formats.

Provide high quality strategic and operational policy advice to the directorate which includes putting the patient at the centre of policy development and decision making.

This role provides the opportunity to drive improvement and manage the coordination of continuous improvement initiatives.

As a senior lead developing a culture that promotes equality and inclusion; demonstrating a commitment to valuing diversity are essential.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
  • Additional management or specialist qualification or significant experience in specialist area such as financial management, statistical analysis or business management.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body

Experience

Essential
  • Significant experience in the provision of policy advice to senior stakeholders on a range of complex topics.
  • Significant experience of managing a team to deliver outcomes.
  • Experience working within a political environment including experience of working on the public sector.
  • Experience interpreting national policy for implementation.
  • Previous experience of managing budgets for complex programmes of work, including budget setting and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of processes, policies and stakeholders (such as Internal Audit, HR and Procurement) within a complex environment.
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationships between individual commissioning and provider organisations.
  • Understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this in engagement.
  • Knowledge of financial processes, having previously been responsible for budget setting and management.
Desirable
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles, techniques and tools such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project.
