Location: Glasgow (hybrid - 3 days onsite)

Seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise environment. This role centres on troubleshooting complex system and platform issues, while contributing to the ongoing improvement of operational processes and tooling.

This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone comfortable working across Linux-based systems and underlying Server Hardware. You will be involved in incident resolution, problem analysis, and driving improvements to system reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve escalated infrastructure and platform incidents across Linux-based environments
  • Perform low-level troubleshooting across physical server hardware and associated technologies
  • Utilise remote management tools (out-of-band/lights-out) for diagnostics and recovery
  • Take ownership of incidents end-to-end, from triage through to resolution and post-incident review
  • Collaborate with engineering and support teams to identify root causes and implement fixes
  • Develop and maintain runbooks and operational documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, reducing incident frequency and recovery times
  • Build or enhance scripts/tools to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills
  • Solid understanding of server hardware (eg disks, RAID, NICs, firmware) and failure modes
  • Experience with remote management technologies (eg iDRAC, iLO, IPMI, Redfish)
  • Proven ability to manage and resolve incidents in a production environment
  • Familiarity with reliability concepts such as SLIs/SLOs, monitoring, and incident metrics
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience producing clear technical documentation and runbooks

Desirable Skills

  • Scripting or automation experience (eg Bash, Python)
  • Exposure to virtualisation or container platforms
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools
