Cybersecurity Operations Manager

Contract | Inside IR35 | Fully Remote

We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Operations Manager to lead and evolve our clients security operations capability. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of operational cybersecurity activities, manage security incidents, and drive continuous improvements across people, processes, and technology.

Working within a dynamic environment, you will play a key role in protecting critical systems and services while collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to strengthen overall cyber resilience.

The Role

As Cybersecurity Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of security operations, ensuring incidents, service requests, and security risks are managed effectively and efficiently.

You will provide leadership across operational security activities while remaining hands-on when required, supporting investigations, incident response, and the implementation of security controls and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operation of the cybersecurity function, ensuring operational priorities are delivered effectively.
  • Manage and coordinate security incidents through identification, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review.
  • Investigate security alerts and events, conducting root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions.
  • Oversee the optimisation and ongoing management of security technologies, including SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, DLP, and related platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve monitoring, detection, response capabilities, and overall security maturity.
  • Develop and enhance operational processes, procedures, and security playbooks.
  • Work closely with technology, risk, and business teams to ensure security requirements are understood and embedded.
  • Provide clear and concise reporting, recommendations, and risk assessments to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor security team members, helping to build a high-performing operational security capability.

Required Experience

  • Strong background in cybersecurity with a focus on security operations, incident response, and threat investigation.
  • Demonstrable experience working with security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management, and endpoint security platforms.
  • Solid understanding of network security, cloud security, and modern threat landscapes.
  • Proven ability to lead operational security teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience coordinating and managing security incidents from initiation through resolution.
  • Excellent organisational, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • CISSP, CISM, GCIH, GCIA, or similar industry-recognised certifications.
  • Experience working within regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks including ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.
  • Experience driving operational improvements and security maturity initiatives.
